Title: SILS Project is nearing the end of phase 2!
The SILS Working Group has nearly finished phase 2, the exploration phase of the Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS) project.
A survey on existing systems and costs was carried out in phase 2; the survey also included questions around the potential opportunities and challenges of a consortial system. The SILS working group is summarizing findings and recommendations for the final report. The Direction and Oversight Committee (DOC) is reviewing and providing feedback on the draft report through their April and May 2018 meetings. The SILS Working Group will use DOC’s feedback to prepare the final report before its submission to the Council of University Librarians (CoUL).
A component of the phase 2 report will include a proposed charge for phase 3, including a structure that will include library staff representation on expertise and campus groups. If the Council of University Librarians (CoUL) approves moving forward, Phase 3 will likely launch in the summer 2018.
