Who We Are

The University of California has built 10 campus libraries of distinction, comprising world-class collections that both fuel and provide a competitive edge to UC research and instruction.  The following bodies govern systemwide library initiatives or provide advice and consultation on library and scholarly communication issues.

Council of University Librarians (CoUL) – University Librarians from 10 campuses and the Executive Director of the California Digital Library.

UC Libraries Advisory Structure (UCLAS) – Supports the development of UC Libraries shared systemwide services; consists of a Coordinating Committee, three Strategic Actions Groups, the Collection Licensing Subgroup, Common Knowledge Groups, operations teams and project teams.

Systemwide Library and Scholarly Information Advisory Committee (SLASIAC) – Advises the University on systemwide library policies and strategic priorities, on long term planning and on strategies to enhance and facilitate the transmission of scholarly and scientific communication.

Librarians Association of the University of California (LAUC) – Organization of UC Librarians formed to advise the University on library collections, services, initiatives, programs and technology.
