SILS Vanguard Phase Complete; Implementation Begins

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the six SILS vanguard institutions successfully completed the vanguard phase of the project, which ran from June 15 to Oct 30.

Following the migration of approximately 25 million bibliographic records, testing in ExLibris’ Alma and Primo VE platforms took place from late September through October in instances at the following institutions: UC Berkeley (including Northern Regional Library Facility), UCLA (including Southern Regional Library Facility), UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara and the California Digital Library (CDL).

Concurrently, the SILS Internal Training Group has been stewarding training and certification on the use of Alma and Primo VE, for both SILS cohort members and local implementation teams.

We are grateful to the five UC libraries that are already on the Alma and Primo platforms for their contributions and shared insights during the vanguard phase: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz.

Tomorrow, Nov. 5, SILS enters its implementation phase for all institutions, with the test load data migration scheduled to be completed in December. Policy and practice coordination as well as outreach activities are also underway.

We invite you to explore the SILS Confluence wiki for ongoing progress towards go-live on July 27, 2021. If you have any questions or comments, please contact AskSILS-L@listserv.ucop.edu.
