This Month in SILS and UC Library Search for May 2021

Dear Colleagues,

Below is a monthly high-level summary of information for both project implementation and the end-user service, to keep the UC Libraries community informed in advance of go-live on July 27, 2021.

Key SILS Project Updates

  • Ex Libris delivered its full cutover plan for all UC campuses on May 6. Dates and deliverables can be viewed on the detailed SILS implementation timeline
  • Ex Libris is hosting a week-long Primo VE Configuration workshop, May 17-21. Registration is currently limited to staff responsible for configuration decisions at each campus.
  • Members of the SILS Working Group presented at a May meeting of the  provost-charged Systemwide Library and Scholarly Information Advisory Committee (SLASIAC), regarding UC Library Search. The presentation was very well received, with the committee positively acknowledging the project remaining on schedule and under budget!

Key UC Library Search Updates

  • The fourth UC Library Search news release, with an emphasis on preparing for Melvyl’s retirement, will be distributed at the campus level in May; this timeline is accelerated for semester institutions and law schools.
  • The @uofcalifornia Twitter account is posting a schedule of tweets leading up to go-live. Here is the initial tweeton April 29, with the next scheduled for late May.
  • A selection of creative lock-ups featuring the UC Library Search logo, as well as a “Farewell, Melvyl” sideshow, are accessible in the Resource Lake. These can be adapted for use on websites, social media, and other communications platforms.

Please explore the SILS Confluence wiki for ongoing project progress. If you have any questions or comments, please contact AskSILS-L@listserv.ucop.edu.
