Title: Introducing: SILS News!
Thank you for your interest in the Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS) project and welcome to SILS News! The SILS Working Group is about halfway through phase 2 of the project.

New working group member
Lynne Grigsby, Head of Library IT, joins the working group as the new UC Berkeley representative. Erik Mitchell, who was recently appointed UC San Diego’s Audrey Geisel University Librarian, will continue his service on the working group. Welcome, Lynne, and congratulations, Erik!
Phase 2 work underway
Campus representatives, appointed by their University Librarian, completed an inventory of their campus’ existing systems and costs. They also answered questions about what they see as the opportunities and challenges of a consortial system. The SILS Working Group is compiling the data and following up with campuses as needed.
Looking ahead, we are exploring proposed structures for working groups in Phase 3, provided Phase 3 is approved by the Council of University Librarians (CoUL), and estimating the effort involved in producing an RFP.
