This Month in SILS and UC Library Search (March 2021)

Dear Colleagues,

The SILS Phase 4 Cohort is introducing a new pilot communications initiative intended to provide a monthly high-level summary of information for both project implementation and the end-user service.

Key SILS Project Updates for March

  • All 10 UC campuses have received their Alma-Primo testing environments, and are also working on third-party integrations through May.
  • A UC SILS Training Documentation Hub has been introduced to provide information about trainings and workflow documentation related to the UC’s implementation of Alma and Primo VE.
  • A proposal to consolidate the nine different campus subscriptions to the Marcive Documents Without Shelves service into a single subscription has been approved, as has a new UC-wide contract for GOBI’s OCLC Cataloging Plus Service.
  • Both initiatives enable SILS to develop increased efficiencies, as well as UC-wide cost-savings.

Key UC Library Search Updates for March

  • A Google Drive-hosted “Resource Lake” will serve as the hub for all patron-facing outreach materials, with contributions welcome across the UC Libraries.
  • An approved UC Library Search wordmark, and accompanying usage guide has been approved.
  • The second UC Library Search news release, with an emphasis on sunsetting Melvyl, will be distributed at the campus level between March 8 and 19.

Please explore the SILS Confluence wiki for ongoing progress. If you have any questions or comments, please contact AskSILS-L@listserv.ucop.edu.

Best,
